Prepress Charge Policy

At ICON we have an extensively equipped pre-press department dedicated to excellence in prepping files for print, matching colours and performing a variety of layout and design services. We staff this department with highly experienced digital operators using the latest in hardware and software technology. Our pre-press rate policy and rate schedule is as follows:

• In order to achieve accurate colour on your project, we kindly request that all print orders submitted to us are accompanied with a proof printed on a colour calibrated proofing device. When a good proof is supplied, we are responsible for matching to the colours on your proof to the best of our equipment's abilities.  We are also responsible for ensuring that the layout (fonts, scans, etc.) when printed are represented the same way as your proof.
• If you are not able to send us a colour proof to match to, we can produce a proof printed directly on the equipment we will be using to print your job for a cost of $75.00 plus shipping costs.  If you do not want to incur this charge, you can sign off on our colour responsibility form which will signify that we are okay to print your job directly from your file and we will not be responsible for colour or layout.  If colour accuracy is important to you on your project, we highly recommend that you either provide us with a proof to match to or we produce one for you at $75.00.  If you require changes to be made, extra charges will apply for colour correcting.
• If you are concerned about the resolution of your file and how images will appear when enlarged, we highly recommend requesting a proof from us.  We are able to print full size sections of your artwork which will indicate how the final print will appear.
• If you are not concerned about colour and have not submitted a proof to us you may fax us the layout of your file and/or send us a PDF which will allow us to ensure that the layout (fonts, scans, etc.) when printed are represented the same way as your fax or PDF file.  If you choose to not send us a PDF or fax, we will not be responsible for the layout.
• All of our prices quoted are based on ready-to-run artwork.  If any file work is required including but not limited to loading missing fonts, changing file sizes, adding bleed, etc. prepress charges will be assessed at a rate of $60.00 per hour of work with a half hour ($30.00) minimum charge.  Please reference our file setup spec sheet and file setup FAQ's for information on how we require your files to be submitted.
• Any design work is charged at a rate of $150.00 per hour.  Layout work is $60.00 per hour.  Each service is subject to a half-hour minimum.  Please open our system time vs. creative time document for more information on the difference between the two services.
• We archive all client files for up to 2 years, there is no cost for us to perform this service, we only charge when files are pulled from archives.  A cost of $35.00 per project is charged for this service.
• Burning files to CD costs $75.00 per CD plus any archive retrieval fees if required and shipping
• We encourage you to FTP your files to us, you can do this by following our FTP upload instructions. If you require us to download files from your server, we can do that at a cost of $60.00 per hour of transfer time with a half hour minimum ($30.00).
• When submitting files to us on CD or DVD, please indicate the file name that we are using for your print job(s).  If you do not specify the file names and we need to search and open large files, pre-press charges will incurred at a cost of $60.00 per hour with a half hour minimum ($30.00).
